Charice is.........

TEENAGER

Picture
At 17, Charice has had to grow more in the past couple years than in her first 15 combined.  While super star status is on the cusp, our little Charice still remembers to be a teen.  When she is not at concerts, in the studio, attending events or talk shows, Charice spends a very healthy amount of her free time shopping, drawing, or on the internet.  This young diva has found a huge online fan base (known as the "Chasters") and continues to interact with them on a weekly basis.  When not in the spotlight, Charice can still get blown away when seeing her "childhood" heroes and celebrities.  If that is not surprising, Charice also admits to still having a heavy dose of stage fright when performing in front of her home crowd in the Phillipines "because they will really show you whether they liked you or not."  Her relationship with mentor David Foster is also indicative of her age.  While they have developed an incredibly strong bond through the music, and have become very in sync with the business side of things, it is undeniable that their relationship means something more.  On Good Morning America, Charice was asked what it has been like working with David and she paused for a moment before saying, "He's really funny, and I feel very comfortable around him.  He's like......my dad.  Hey Dad."  A girl who never really had a father figure to take care of her, looks to have found one in the legendary, grammy-award winning producer.  One thing is for certain, this Filipina singing sensation has shown remarkable maturation during her time in the states.

GENUINE

Picture
Anyone who has followed Charice at all knows how big this girl's heart is.  Victim of a past riddled with hardships, Charice gives her all during every performance and is not shy to let her emotions show.  Time and time again we have seen her shed tears when speaking about her mother, her past or her dreams coming true.  The most touching moment to date undoubtedly occurred during her second appearance on Oprah when she was introduced to her hero Celine Dion via satellite and was offered to sing a duet with her.  Hearts were touched everywhere as Charice burst into tears and simply blubbered, "Thank you....idol."  She has not taken her celebrity status for granted, she continues to use her income to help support her family, buying her mother an new car and house in LA.  Of all of Charice's admirable characteristics, her genuine personality as well as fans' ability to relate to her has made her a shining beacon of hope for men, women and children all across the world.

GIFTED

Picture
*Apart from being a singing prodigy, Charice has shown incredible dance and instrumental prowess as well.  On Star King, as well as during the David Foster and Friends concert, Charice whipped out her phenomenal Michael Jackson moves, along with his patented Moonwalk.

*It should also be noted that Charice has become an avid guitarist, teaching herself how to play "by ear".  Check out her behind the scenes version of Bleeding Love on YouTube!

*As far as her singing, Foster continues to praise her ability to improvise, learn songs quickly, and adjust to last minute alterations to songs before going on stage.

*Lastly, Charice was able to master the English language in no time, becoming fluent only a couple of months after her arrival to the states.

CLASSY

Picture
You will never hear Charice speak ills of another Filipino or celebrity.  On the contrary, she is one of the most supportive "celebs" around.  Her humbleness is unmatched and she never forgets to give recognition to those deserving.  Apart from being a proud Filipina, Charice is always putting others ahead of her when in the spotlight.  A prime example of this quality came when she was performing with her friend Raph Salazar from Little Big Star. During the duet, after Raph hit successive high notes, Charice began clapping and urging the audience to do so also (she does this on a regular basis).  In interviews, she shies away from gloating about her incredible achievements and instead focuses on those who have helped her along the way.  When performing in different countries, she is always respectful of different cultures, even when she can't understand the language (ex. Korea-Star King)!  Apart from being a classy individual, she is one of the classiest dressers in the biz.  A first class diva in the making....Charice Pempengco.

LOVING

Picture
*Her career always comes second to her family (who she calls her "rock").  In a recent interview, Charice told Shakefire.com that, "Not everything has changed in my life as I’m still with my mother and family most of the time which is the most important thing to me."

*Charice recently performed at the Leeza Gibbons event "To Make A Difference".  There Charice told Look To The Stars how much she admires philanthropic celebrities such as Leeza, Olivia Newton-John, David Foster and Oprah, and aspires to give back like they do.
